How to Add Tags in OneNote

Tags in OneNote are an excellent way to quickly locate notes in even the largest notebook. Tags are easily searchable once they are added.
 
Make a Tag
  • Select the paragraph you want to tag by clicking on it.
  • On the Home tab, click the Tag button.
    There are tags for everything including to-do lists, questions, and ideas.
  • Choose a tag.
The tag is appended to the currently active paragraph.
 
Make Your Custom Tag

Select the Tag option.
Choose Customize Tags.
Select New Tag.
Give the tag a unique name.
To distinguish the tag from other notebook text, add a symbol, font colour, or highlight.
Choose your tag options.
Select OK.
Click OK once more.Select the paragraph you want to tag by clicking on it.
Select the Tag option.
Choose the custom tag.
 
 
Find Tags
 

It's one thing to use tags, but they're also helpful when searching.
On the Home tab, click Find Tags.
On the right, the Tags Summary pane appears. It displays all tags in the notebook, separated by category.
In the Tags Summary pane, select a tag.
Open the notebook to the tag.
 
Delete a Tag

You can always delete a paragraph if you decide it no longer needs to be tagged.
Select the tagged paragraph and then click the Tag button.
Choose Remove Tag.
